Well, they just … stopped

You probably noticed. There have been no posts on this blog since I had just passed through the Panama Canal. In May. Since then lots has happened.

We raced to Jamaica. We raced to New York. I left the boat for my final time and went travelling in the eastern United States, ending up in Canada. I went home. Four days later I went back to work. Two weeks later the Race finished. I have been back at work nearly two months and am now on a watersports holiday in Vassiliki, Greece.

So how did we get here? Why did the posts stop? That’s a question I’ve asked myself many times and I have no simple, clear answer.

Though short, the Race to Jamaica was quite intense. I had time to write the Panama post and that was all. Jamaica gave us chance to take a few days away from Clipper and we took it. For me that included writing. As we neared New York, it became harder to get hold of the crew computer. When I did it was often well into my off-watch and I just wanted to email Peter and sleep. The watch system was taking its toll and I was getting more tired. Since I’ve been home I’ve had good intentions but, well, there have also been distractions. I’ve not even had chance to look at all my photographs properly. So here I am. Peter’s doing an advanced windsurfing session. I’m writing this while watching them. It’s a bit too windy for me. My session, for novices, was this morning and I am looking forward to tomorrow’s session.

So over the next few days I hope to bring you up to date in a little more detail. But for now a drink beckons.

Good afternoon Anita this is from my wife and myself back in Lackawanna Best Western Hotel where we first met you and your family earlier this year. Glad to see you made it home! We are the older couple from northern ontario Canada who talked with you at breakfast. Hope all is well with you and your folks. While at the hotel we were thinking of you and up popped your email jogging our memory.
Thanks for the time you spent with us here at the hotel.
    Best regards to you.
    Happy voyages.

      Hi Gerry and Grace

Thanks for your comment and good wishes. Mum and Dad and I are all well thanks and also all away at the moment, though in different places. There was a lot to catch up on after we returned, me after six months, them after eleven weeks. Hope you enjoy my future posts too and the photos once I have sorted them out.

      Anita
